Chickenpox is a dreaded infection, which causes the formation of itchy blister’s, which are filled with fluid. When these blisters eventually break out, they leave scars on your skin. These scars can be really embarrassing for a person.

A number of medical techniques are available to remove ugly scars, however, homemade remedies are the best option to remove these scars as they do not have any side-effects.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice

lemon contains natural bleaching properties, which help in lightening the chicken pox scars. It also helps in repairing damaged skin.

Take one lemon and extract the juice from it. Apply this juice on the chicken pox scars using a cotton ball. Wash it off after 5 to 10 minutes with cold water. Repeating this process daily will help in reducing the marks and eventually they will fade out completely.



Honey helps in moisturizing the skin by drawing all the important nutrients to the chickenpox affected areas, thus helping in removing the scars. Take 2 teaspoons of honey and add 1 teaspoon of olive oil to it. Apply this paste on the scar affected areas and wash it off after a few minutes. Repeat this process daily to lighten the scars.

The antioxidant, antiviral and antibacterial properties present in coconut water help in eliminating chicken pox scars effectively. Apply some coconut water on the chicken pox scars using a cotton ball.

After 15 to 20 minutes wash it off with cold water. This will help in lightening the scars.

Besides helping in lightning the scars, Aloe vera gel also helps in keeping the skin moisturized and nourished. Extract the gel from a few Aloe vera leaves and apply it on your scars.

Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes and then clean it using a damp cloth.



The papain enzyme present in papaya helps in removing dead skin cells, exfoliating the skin and reducing unwanted chicken pox scars.

Take one cup of ripe papaya and mash it thoroughly.

Mix seven tablespoons of milk and five teaspoons of brown sugar and heat it.

Now, add this to the mashed papayas. Apply this on the chicken pox scars and wash it off after 20 minutes.


Sandal wood

Sandalwood is very effective in treating chicken pox scars. Prepare a paste by mixing one teaspoon of sandalwood powder with two to three teaspoons of rosewater.

Apply this paste on the scars and wash it off with lukewarm water after 20 minutes.

Almond oil

The vitamin E, present in almond oil, helps in lightening the chicken pox scars. Massage some almond oil on the affected areas and after 20 minutes, wipe it off using the damp cloth.

Take 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda and add some water to it to form a paste. Apply it on the affected area and once dried, wash it

Oats help in healing the chicken pox scars and eliminating them eventually. It exfoliates and moisturizes the skin. Take 1 cup oats flour and add 2 cups of warm water to it to form a paste. Apply this
paste on the scars and wash it off after 10 minutes.
